Hello again! STLES is looking forward to our annual Family Fun Day this Saturday! All students and their families are invited to a fun filled day of games, food, and prizes while getting to know other families and teachers! There will be a bouncy house, rock climbing wall, four square, three legged races, and more. Imos pizza and Ted Drewes will be catering, along with different dishes and deserts made by teachers and families. Look forward to Assistant Principle Mrs. Mangino's famous blueberry pie! Additionally there will be lots of raffles out with fun prizes that you could win. Some popular prizes are having lunch with our Principle Ms. Smith and one free homework pass. Every year Family Fun Day is themed as well which means decorations are planned according to the theme and families are encouraged to come dressed up in a crazy costume relating to it as well. Usually the staff comes up with a fun theme, but this year we are asking for help deciding the theme from our families and students! I will have a survey up on the side of my blog with the themes to vote on! Can't wait to see all of you on Saturday!

Week One: Introductions and Fun Activities!
Hello again students and families! The first week of school was a huge success! I was so excited to meet all of you and to start the work and activities that I had planned for my classroom! We started off the first day of school with a drawing worksheet. Here is an example of the worksheet:
The students all had to draw a picture inside of the marked boxes. This allowed students to use their creativity and imagination while also incorporating social interactions by working at tables with their new peers. They also had to fill in the "new friend" box which meant they had to find a friend to draw and interact with. We hung all of the students drawings up around the room for the students to see and learn more about their friends! For the next few days we worked on introductions so that each student was aware of their fellow peers and for me to get to know all of the children. Additionally during circle time we would read stories that incorporated the first day of school and first week of school into our lesson. At the end of the week we started to work on our writing, while emphasizing the lower case letters and getting the children to practice writing their name. I will be attaching a worksheet that would be beneficial for them to work on at home to get even more practice outside of the classroom. I have a lot of fun activities planned for this upcoming week and I am already looking forward to and anticipating a great year!
Have a safe weekend!

Welcome Kindergarteners and their families!
Hello students and families! My name is Ms. English and I'm so excited to spend the next year with all of you! This will be my third year teaching at St. Louis Elementary School and in the Kindergarten department. I have a dual certification in Early Childhood Education and Special Education from Saint Louis University. I have loved every minute of teaching here at STLES and can't wait for many more years to come!
We have a lot of work and fun activities planned for this school year! I wanted to share my blog with all of you so that you are always updated on the progress of our classroom, and what we have learned and achieved that week. At the end of each week I will update my blog and send it out to all of you so that you are always in the loop! Kindergarten is an essential year for young learners, so we will be taking the proper steps to prepare the students for the years to come. Additionally I will be posting links that parents can access with at home activities that you can do with your child to get them engaged outside of the classroom. At home practice with family members is a crucial part of the learning experience!
STLES is holding an all school open house tomorrow at 6 pm, so all students and family members are more than welcome to stop by my classroom (room 23) for more information! I am looking forward to meeting all of you, and I can't wait for our year to come!
Start getting "Krazy" for Kindergarten!
Sincerely,
Ms. English
